Research Fellow at the University of Zaragoza. At the moment I am conducting research towards a PhD in Film Studies within the Doctoral Programme in English Studies. My thesis explores the representation of border women in contemporary cinema. More specifically, I explore the links between the filmic representation of border women and the profound social and cultural changes that characterize our age, such as globalization and transnationalism. Its holistic approach includes different theoretical frameworks such as border and Chicano studies, gender studies, and globalization and cosmopolitan theories. My current research takes a step beyond my MA thesis, entitled: “Return to Aztlán: The Construction of Chicana Identity in Real Women Have Curves,” approved in November 2010.
