Silvia Murillo

Silvia Murillo is a Ph.D. Research Fellow in English and Film at the University of Zaragoza (Spain). Her current research interests include film and television in the context of transnationalism, cosmopolitanism and space and border theory.

She holds a degree in English Philology and a Master’s Degree in Textual Analysis in Film and Literature Studies, which she completed writing her M.A. dissertation on Denis Villeneuve’s film Arrival (2016).

In her Ph.D. thesis, she explores the visual representation of border spaces in contemporary narratives from a cosmopolitan perspective, focusing especially on the Swedish-Danish series Bron/Broen and its British-French adaptation, The Tunnel. In 2017 she obtained a competitive scholarship granted by the Spanish Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport to complete her research.
